Greece 2011, Day 2

Day 2 started out early for boarding the Fast Ferry to Sanorini. We left at 7:30 a.m.

Thanks to much help from a friend (Urie) we met on the trip from JFK to Athens we were able to get where we had to go and find out alot about the islands along the way.
The scenery was beautiful but the water was choppy and made for a slower ride than normal.
The ferry stopped at 4 islands. Santorini was the last stop. Our friend Urie left us at the next to last island.

Greece 2011, Day 1

On Thursday (4-21-11) Jon and I flew from Portland to JFK to start a week vacation to Greece. We had a long flight from JFK to Athens but arrived there at 8:45 am on Friday (4-22-11). Due to the amount of travelers because of the Easter weekend celebrations, we were unable to leave Athens till the next morning. So on the advice and help of a friend we got to know on the flight over, we took a bus to Pireas and found a room for the night at the "Pireas Dream" hotel. After checking in and resting for a while, we took off to see the sights of Athens. Jon and I standing on the walking bridge to the subway in Pireas.

After getting off the subway, we just started walking and taking in the sights.


So odd to see ancient ruins scattered among modern buildings.
